Padel fever rises – new indoor courts delivered

Hallgruppen strengthens its commitment to padel sports with a new sports building built in Copenhagen. With solid experience in both the construction industry and padel sports, Hallgruppen has led the development of yet another padel facility, this time in Jernbanebyen, Copenhagen, Denmark. In close collaboration with the facility’s owner, they have created a solution that ensures optimal playing conditions year-round.

Padel sports continue to grow in popularity across Denmark, and now Copenhagen-based players of this dynamic sport, which combines elements of tennis and squash, can enjoy the latest, state-of-the-art facilities. Since December 20 last year, Padel Yard in Jernbanebyen has welcomed players to its eight indoor courts.

Standing behind the construction of the nine-meter-high padel sporting structure is Hallgruppen, Denmark’s leading provider of temporary buildings, weather protection, marquees and tent solutions, once again making its mark on the padel map.

“Over the past few years, we have been involved in multiple padel projects in Denmark, and we are proud to be behind yet another successful development. Our self-supporting steel structures, which can be clad with single-layer coated fabric or an insulated fabric cover, ensure durability and allow for year-round play,” says Kim Jansdorf, Managing Director of Hallgruppen Denmark.

Padel’s popularity continues to rise

Five years ago, Denmark had approximately 70 padel centers. According to the Danish Padel Federation, this number has now grown to more than 1,110 in 2024, with Hallgruppen playing a key role in the development of many of these centers and facilities.

Although Hallgruppen has traditionally supplied temporary buildings and tent solutions to the construction industry, there are significant similarities in the structural and functional requirements for padel facilities.

“When we build a padel facility, it is a natural extension of our construction work. Our CE-certified structures meet regulatory requirements for load-bearing construction, ensuring facilities can be used year-round,” says Kim Jansdorf.

A close partnership

The owner of Padel Yard is thrilled with the facility opening and highly satisfied with the successful collaboration with Hallgruppen throughout the project.

“With the opening of Padel Yard, we can now offer Copenhagen’s padel players top-tier facilities that can be used all year. Our partnership with Hallgruppen has been crucial in realizing our vision of a structure that meets both players’ and sport needs,” says owner Tobias Galskov.
